Through his architecture, Dominic LaPierre is setting the stage for some of life's most memorable moments - always mindful of the honor it is to play a role in these experiences. As an architect, he has long been intrigued with projects that will exist in the public realm, and his career has naturally gravitated to the world of higher education and municipal building design.
From college dormitories and recreational centers to classrooms and laboratories, Dominic leads projects with creating modern educational excellence and advancing sustainability at the forefront of his design intentions. He strives to provide meaningful designs and thoughtful solutions that have yet to be imagined.
Dominic's designs turn potential liabilities inherent in 1950s and 1960s campus architecture into opportunities, as demonstrated during a research project into turning an academic building on Syracuse University's campus into a net-zero building. The solution called for natural ventilation, a pre-heat wall, and a reimagining of space that would bring students and faculty alike into closer collaboration.
When working with colleges and universities, Dominic's initial client conversations often begin with addressing immediate facilities needs. Under his guidance, clients see beyond the short-term, and can envision how a far-thinking, thoughtful design solution can serve their institutions well today and in the future.
Dominic received his bachelor's degree in art history from Middlebury College before earning his master of architecture from Yale University.
