MIT Lincoln Laboratory Child Care Center Playscape
Flexible learning spaces, expansive outdoor play environments, and preserved natural areas support hands-on discovery both indoors and out.The Lincoln Laboratory Child Care Center’s key design goal was to incorporate hands-on learning at the core of its program. Our team worked closely with the Operations Team to create age-appropriate spaces that support the curriculum, facilitate a wide range of creative activities, and invite parent engagement. Nearly 4,000 SF of wooded area was preserved for nature play, while a new 9,750 SF playground was constructed atop a former parking lot at the request of the owners. The team implemented stormwater management tactics to protect the local wetlands.
