Falk College Nutrition Suite
Bringing together programs that were spread throughout the campus into one location. The David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics brings together Syracuse University's professional programs in Child and Family Studies, Health and Wellness, Marriage and Family Therapy, Nutrition Science and Dietetics, Social Work, and Sport Management in an environment of cross disciplinary teaching, research, practice, and service. The project consolidated programs that were previously spread across campus into a single location, creating opportunities for collaboration while housing academic programs, administration, admissions, and a wide range of student services.
Designed to support both teaching and student success, the building includes specialized environments tailored to each program's needs. The Academic Advising suite provides space for nine counselors, record keepers, administrative and support staff, meeting rooms, and records storage, offering comprehensive services including advising, retention, probation, and financial aid. The facility also includes a Career Counseling department and an Information Technology suite.
The Nutrition Science and Dietetics program features a state-of-the-art nutrition suite with a 10-station teaching kitchen, an associated café, and a professional production kitchen located behind the serving line. Cameras capture food preparation from multiple angles, allowing demonstrations to be projected, recorded, or broadcast for instruction. The café serves lunch daily, providing students with hands on experience in every stage of food planning, preparation, and service, while an efficient buffet line supports daily operations.
Additional specialty teaching spaces include an experimental kitchen located at the front of a 50 seat lecture hall, where demonstrations can be viewed on three large display screens. Adjacent wine storage and a tasting room support instruction in beverage studies, with diagonal wine racks defining the space and creating an immersive learning environment.
The new home for Falk College establishes an identifiable, inclusive, vibrant, and exciting destination on the western edge of campus. Designed to meet the College's current needs while anticipating future growth, the facility serves as a symbol of pride for students, faculty, and staff while fostering collaboration across disciplines.
