Industry Night at the Brookline Teen Center
On May 1, 2025, Ashley McGraw Architects hosted an Industry Night at the Brookline Teen Center in Brookline, MA. The event, open to the public and geared toward teens, offered an opportunity to learn about the fields of architecture and landscape architecture. Attendees connected with professionals, asked questions, and even toured Emerson Garden alongside a practicing landscape architect.
Discussions covered a range of topics including career paths into the design professions, what designers do, pre-college programs, and what landscape architecture is. A notable historical highlight shared at the event: landscape architecture was founded in Brookline, MA, by Frederick Law Olmsted, known as the Father of American Landscape Architecture.
Guest speakers included Joanne Hiromura and Mike Lindstrom from Ashley McGraw Architects; Dragana Bogavac from Boston Architectural College; and Lauren Butts, Kelsey Kern, Rory O’Connor, G Rabinkin, Luis Perez Demorizi, and Sakiko Ismochichi from the Boston Society of Landscape Architects.
This event was part of the Brookline Fund to Increase Diversity in Architecture & Design, founded by Michael Lindstrom and Murielle Vautrin, which supports under-resourced students of color in Brookline who are interested in the design professions.
