Lincoln School
The Lincoln School is a private school located in Providence, RI founded in Quaker principles, which played an integral role in the design process for this project. The key tenants of the Quaker approach highlight the school’s priority towards environmental stewardship, community, and simplicity.
The new building completed in August 2020, expanded the Little School program from their existing facilities to a new LEED Gold certified, Net Zero, 7,000 SF building, dedicated for toddlers to 3-year-old students. Designed to emphasize the joy of learning through a Reggio-Emilia-inspired approach. All classrooms have direct access to a dedicated Little School playground, influenced by the School’s Reggio-Emilia philosophy– to embrace the natural environment. The 2,300 SF outdoor play space provides a variety of sensory play experiences in a natural setting, incorporating natural materials such as logs and boulders and plantings.
