The 2,400 SF play space at Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Early Childhood Center at Johns Hopkins University was completed in August 2021. Working with the Center’s staff and Johns Hopkins, a nature-based space for 24 infants and toddlers transformed the existing space of rubber surfacing and concrete pavement.
Within the relatively small courtyard space, a trike track encircles a sand play area with play counters, interactive water spout with a dry stream bed and play bridge, and a play hill with embankment slide. The space is planted with durable plant materials, a natural hollowed log, musical elements, gardening boxes, and trike storage.
