keene state college
The design process for creating the 12,000 SF outdoor environment for Keene State College’s Child Development Center—serving 40 children—began with an interactive workshop led by our Landscape studio and Robin Moore of North Carolina State University’s Natural Learning Initiative.
With participation from Center staff, parents, the College facilities team, and architecture students, the resulting design introduces natural landforms and materials such as hills, climbing rocks, reflective of the surrounding landscape of Keene, New Hampshire, willow tunnels, and sensory plantings. The space also supports the Center’s Early Sprouts Gardening Project, providing rich opportunities for learning and playing in nature.
