2015 CAPITAL PROJECT
LAFAYETTE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

The $12.48 million project focused on three key components: safety and security, building maintenance, and the improvement and maximization of instructional spaces. To address the safety and security of students at Grimshaw Elementary School, all daytime visitors will be directed to a secure entrance at the new main office. Additional security upgrades include a new electronic ID system and security cameras. At the Jr./Sr. High School, lobby improvements will be made to increase visual supervision and a new electronic ID system and upgraded security cameras will be implemented. Building maintenance includes roof replacement on about 80% of Grimshaw Elementary and the Jr./Sr. High School. Additional scope items include energy performance upgrades to the HVAC systems and replacement of mechanical equipment.

Key instructional renovations include the reconfiguration of three classrooms to accommodate a new “Project Lead the Way” lab which includes a computer graphics classroom and project shop. “Project Lead the Way” is an engineering-type program that allows students of LaFayette Central School District to graduate with 15 credits that are transferrable to RIT and Clarkson. To improve building utilization, the Big Picture School, located off-campus, was relocated into the Jr./Sr. High School.
