BARTELS HALL BASKETBALL LOCKER ROOM
CORNELL UNIVERSITY

Cornell University’s Athletics & Physical Education, Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams sought programming and design to reconfigure existing locker and restrooms to support organizational productivity and create a more motivational team atmosphere. The goal of the project was to look at options that consider aesthetic and programmatic improvements which enhance the functionality of the space as it relates to basketball team’s daily activities and provide a more spacious and marketable environment for recruitment and retention.

The finishes were selected to help create a functional, comfortable, yet presentable environment for the student athletes and coaches. For coaches, the space should be presentable enough to feel proud and inviting when introducing new recruits. The finishes will help to accentuate and designate the separate zones within the space and help users to have more authority and control in the space. Moreover, durability and easy maintenance were some of the high prioritized factors that drove our product selections.
